My Family consists of my wife
Wendy
and 5 children (
Camille,
Shannon,
Steven,
Gavin,
and Andrew) in a Provo, Utah neighborhood
(near the mouth of Rock Canyon).
Religion
I belong to the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. From '79 to '81 I served a church
mission in South Africa.
I'm currently the ward clerk of my ward.
Career
After nearly 15 years as a software engineer with Novell,
I started writing web service software for Blue Coat Systems, makers of K9, the best web content filter for home use (and it's free!).
Hobbies
I finally retired my old
mountain bike
(a Slingshot) in favor of this cool titanium softtail
(a '99 Litespeed) I found on eBay. I ride on trails like Great Western,
Bonneville
Shoreline, and Rock Canyon.
Although I prefer that type of ride, I think everyone should try Moab's Slickrock
at least once. I also picked up a used road bike) (a Waterford Paramount) to
ride in the winter. From my workplace at Blue Coat in Draper, we're able to ride some sweet trails
Politics
In an effort to try to learn more about the people who may be behind the 9/11 terrorist attack,
I've been reading the foreign press. For instance, the Afghan news and
press, as well as the Jerusalem Post.
Can anyone name one good
thing Bill Clinton
did for this country? I know he takes credit for alot, but so far
I've seen nothing constructive (and don't mention the booming economy --
any economist will tell you he can't be credited for that).
Similarly, can anyone tell
me one good thing governor Mike
"let's tax the internet" Leavitt has done for Utah?
I grew up in southern Idaho
in the '60s-'70s, and everyone had guns. They were easier to obtain than
they are today, and though we all at one time or another fantasized about
going to school one morning and blasting everyone, it never happened. Why
not? If we adults could just be parents / teachers like the ones we knew
growing up, youth violence (and most other social ills, for that matter)
would hardly ever be found in the news, and gun
control would not be an issue.
And remember Clinton/Congress
congratulating themselves on the budget surplus? Think about what that surplus really
meant -- that our government took so much from us, that not even
they, the hugest money wasters in the world could spend it all!
Entertainment
No, I have NOT seen all the
"Star Wars" movies. What does "Star Wars" offer that I can't get on a weekly basis watching
Red Dwarf?
I enjoyed those new "Lord of the Rings" films.
Miscellaneous
I'm still in the market for
another old HP 16-C calculator,
so contact me if you know
where I can find one.
